Knitting groups are active here at Twill!
Knitting Group Update…
It has been a long stretch. I am thankful that we’ve been able to keep the doors open. Many of you have gone out of your way to support local businesses in general and Twill specifically. It has been a challenging year for all of us.
The heart of this shop is the community of people who gather here and share their love of handwork. It has been lonely without you.
We have been back together now for a couple of months and there are several groups actively meeting in the shop and with vaccination numbers continuing to rise, we have room to grow.
On Tuesdays from 11-2 we have a group of intermediate to advanced knitters and crocheters who gather. This group is largely independent, meaning that they don’t need instruction and they are generally strong patrons of the shop community. Friendly and fun, this group would welcome a few new members. We ask that you work on projects that are being made with shop yarn during this time.
Wednesday’s advanced group is currently full.
Thursday is Knit with a Teacher! This group has an anchoring group of friends who have been with me, here at Twill, since I unlocked the doors on my lease first lease and started putting yarn on the shelves.
What to expect:
The teacher leading the group will be an expert knitter and is available to help overcome sticking points and/or teach a new skill.
The teacher will also help members determine appropriate next projects, selecting to challenge or inspire you to expand your knitting skills with success and limited frustration.
The benefits:
Build confidence in your knitting skills
Begin new projects that may be intimidating to try on your own
Enjoy your knitting in the company of other supportive knitters
Be in the company of a diverse group of people who are all together around a shared interest
Develop friendships and be a supportive presence to others
How Knit with a Teacher works:
We all understand that there are an enormous number of beautiful and inspiring knits, patterns and yarns available at our fingertips. Also, brick and mortar shops are becoming more rare and financially fragile. In an effort to ensure that Twill will continue to be here for all of us to enjoy, we ask that materials and supplies from the shop are used for all in person gatherings.
Members make payments on the first of the month and the fee is $15 per week. You will be asked to enroll and pre-pay to insure your spot in a group.
We understand that not everyone can attend each week. Groups meet for 90 minutes and cost $15 per week. This is an ongoing commitment and the shop relies on the income. If you are an enrolled member, you are responsible for payment even if you miss a session. Exceptions do apply.
