We love to make Bella's Mittens by Marielle Henault out of Rowan Cocoon. image title Knitting this bulky yarn down on a size 8 needle makes a wonderfully dense fabric which will keep you hands toasty during frigid New England winters.
Pendulum by Amy Miller is a clever semi-circular shawl knit with two contrasting colors using short rows to create pretty swirls of color. You can make this in any of our beautiful fingering weight yarns, or try a thicker sport or dk weight yarn.
Veera Välimäki is one of our favorite designers, and as a community we have made her Color Affection shawl dozens of times. Many knitters have made more than one, either for themselves or as a gift. Not sure which colors to pick? Sandy has a knack for helping customers find the perfect color combination.
Cameo by Paulina Popiolek is a beautiful shawl knit with two contrasting colors. With stripes and simple lace it is a shawl that makes a statement. Take a peek at some of the beautiful projects made at Twill
Ferryboat Mitts by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas is our favorite fingerless mitt pattern. The ribbing provides a cozy fit, and the simple styling is perfect to show off pretty yarn. They knit up quickly in worsted weight yarn.
The Honey Cowl by Antonia Shankland is a wonderful cowl made with a simple slip stitch pattern which beautifully blends and highlights the variations in hand-dyed yarn. The pattern calls for DK or worsted weight wool and has instructions for two different lengths. It can also be knit in fingering weight by modifying the stitch count.
The Inspira Cowl by graphica is another adaptable cowl pattern using simple, stranded colorwork. For many people it is their first colorwork project. We have knit it in solid, variegated, and self-striping yarns in all combinations and in weights from fingering to dk.
If there is one pattern which rivals the Color Affection in popularity, it is Rockefeller by Stephen West Light or dark, subtle or bold, we love this shawl.
Hermione's Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder is our go-to sock pattern. Our newer knitters love the simplicity of the pattern, while our more experienced knitters whip up pair after pair every time fine new sock yarn arrives in the shop.
The Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmermann is a classic. There are knit and crochet versions It works up beautifully in stripes or a solid color, and the construction has a bit of magic to it. (That's the surprise!) image title Pretty much every time the subject of baby sweaters come up at the shop, this sweater is mentioned and the samples come out.
