Confident beginner projects

We have selected projects that we think would be suitable for confident beginner knitters or Learn to Knit graduates. If you know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease, and knit in the round, you can make these! The Easy Folded Poncho is just as easy to knit as it is to wear; it's one big long rectangle. We have many colors of Rowan Felted Tweed DK that would pair perfectly with this pattern. The Bus Hat is a simple and quick knit, with just enough texture to keep you interested. The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, and we have lots of Ella Rae Superwash Merino that would be just the ticket. The Ferryboat Mitts are one of our very favorite fingerless mitt patterns--we love the elegant thumb gusset. Knit in a worsted yarn such as Madelinetosh Vintage or Ella Rae Superwash Merino, these will fit a variety of hands and suit a variety of styles. The Brassica hat is a quick to knit slouchy hat perfect for those of who've caught the hat bug! It would pair beautifully with Ella Rae Lace Merino Aran. The Woodside Cowl is a great project if you've previously knit in the round and want to venture into new techniques. Knit with bulky yarn or two strands of worsted yarn held together, this project won't take long. Stephen West's Boneyard Shawl is a great first shawl project. Learn to Knit students who have completed their fingerless mitts could make this! It calls for DK yarn, and we have lots of options in the shop.
